2017-2018 Student Break Bus Trips

STUDENT BUS TRIPS

The student charter bus sponsored by the Metro Washington Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association

provides safe, reliable, and economic transportation for students traveling from University Park to the Washington, DC

metro area over holiday and semester breaks. This is our 18th year of running the bus and we expect this to be an ongoing

service we will provide our local students as long as the demand is there to run it in a cost effective manner.

Please note that the Chapter cannot control traffic, weather or other variables that could delay the buses.

Safety is more important to us than an on time arrival.

University Park Campus (UP): Curtin Road between Borland Lab and East Halls (Bigler and Shortledge roads)

PROMPTLY at 4:00 PM on 11/17/2017 and 3/2/2018. Winter break trips to be determined

Scheduled to arrive at Walter Johnson HS at 8:00pm

Bethesda: Side parking lot of Walter Johnson High School

PROMPTLY at 2:00 PM for all three trips

Scheduled to arrive at University Park at 6:00pm

 

 

 

NOTES:

 

 

1. The bus will leave at posted departure times – NO EXCEPTIONS!

2. The bus will pick up students in the same locations they were dropped-off.

3. If you have a class or exam that will prevent you from making the 4:00 PM UP departure time, speak to your professor early in the semester to ensure you’ll be able to make the departure time. Be PROACTIVE!

RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENTS

To encourage early commitments we have instituted an early payment schedule. Early commitments are any

checks postmarked (2) weeks prior to the departure date. Like the departure time, we have decided to set firm

deadlines for the discounted rate. For checks mailed after the discount deadline, please be sure your amount is

for the full (not discounted) rate. Seats will be on a first come basis as determined by the date in the check is received.

Seats will not be held without payment, unless special arrangements have been made with Wayne Hudders.

  • To reserve a seat on the bus, you need to send a check made out payable to “Wayne Hudders” or “MWCPSAA” (Metro Washington Chapter – Penn State Alumni Assoc.)

CANCELLATIONS / REFUNDS

Please remember that we make decisions, sign contracts and send payments based on the number of committed riders.

All too often we get last minute cancellations for any number of reasons, the volume of which has become unacceptable.

Our policy is that trips cancelled by the end of the discount period will receive a $45 refund/trip segment cancelled.

Trips cancelled after the discount period ends but prior to five days before the trip leaves PSU for Bethesda will receive

a $35 refund/trip segment cancelled. Trips cancelled in the five days prior to the PSU to Bethesda leg of the trip leaving will not receive any refund.

The Metro Washington Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association is a volunteer organization. When you call me,

you are calling my private residence. I also work full time and travel regularly for work therefore I am unable to take

or return phone calls during the day and if I am on travel it may take several days for a return call. Please be understanding.
